 1. Diaphragm type fuel transfer pump 1. Structure of diaphragm type fuel transfer pump. The fuel transfer pump of the distributed VE type fuel injection pump used in automotive diesel engines is a diaphragm type fuel transfer pump. When the diesel engine is running, the camshaft eccentric wheel 1 of the engine drives the oscillation . The arm 2 swings around the rocker arm axis, causing the pump diaphragm rod 3 to pull the pump diaphragm 5 to move downward, and the pump diaphragm spring 4 is compressed.  At this time, the space on the diaphragm increases, the pressure decreases, the oil outlet valve 7 is closed, the oil inlet valve 6 is opened, and the fuel in the tank enters the space above the pump membrane 5 through the coarse filter and the oil pipe, completing the oil inlet stroke.  The eccentric wheel continues to rotate. When the rocker arm 2 contacts the descending section of the eccentric wheel 1, the force acting on the rocker arm soil disappears, and the pump diaphragm 5 moves upward under the action of the tensile force of the pump diaphragm spring 4, leaving the space above the pump diaphragm.  decreases, the pressure increases, the oil inlet valve 6 closes, the oil outlet valve 7 opens, and the diesel enters the fuel injection pump (high-pressure oil pump) through the oil outlet valve, oil pipe, filter.

 When the oil delivery pressure of the oil transfer pump is 13kpa and the cam speed is 1400r/min, the oil volume of the pump is not less than 2.27L/min, and the closing pressure of the oil transfer pump is 40kPa-50kPa.  2. The tightening torque of the bolts is 24N·m. After installation, the piping system must be deflated.  The method to discharge the air in the fuel transfer pump, low-pressure oil pipe and fuel filter is as follows: loosen the bleed screw on the fuel inlet pipe joint, as shown in Figure 5-3, shake the oil transfer pump hand rocker to discharge the air until the bleed screw Until the diesel oil discharged from the outside contains no bubbles, then tighten the bleed screw to a tightening torque of 8N·m.  The oil transfer pump must be able to work normally. When the oil circuit resistance is greater than 20kPa, the oil transfer pump will not pump oil.  If it is found that the oil pump is not pumping oil or the pump oil is insufficient, check whether the oil line is blocked, whether the oil pipe is flattened, and whether the oil pump itself is damaged.

 2. Plunger type oil transfer pump The column type oil transfer pump is the oil transfer pump used in the in-line A-type fuel injection pump (referred to as the A-type pump). For details on its structure and working principle, please refer to the "6-in-line plunger type A-type fuel injection pump" later.

 3. Causes of oil pump failure:

 Generally speaking, mechanical oil pumps are very reliable. Even if they fail, it is often due to a rupture of the diaphragm that causes insufficient oil delivery.  Sometimes the rocker arm or spring of the oil pump is worn excessively, which can also cause insufficient oil delivery. This fault is easier to identify.  Old-fashioned oil pumps can be repaired, but newer oil pumps cannot be disassembled and must be replaced once they fail. 

Product maintenance methods

 1. First check whether the push rod that drives the diaphragm in the pump mechanism is damaged. Use your fingers to gently block the oil inlet of the oil pump and try to start the engine. If you feel suction at this time, it can prove that the push rod is intact.

 2. If there is no suction feeling on the fingertips, it means that the push rod is damaged and the fuel injection pump should be replaced as a whole.  When the electric fuel injection pump is working, if it emits a powerful pumping sound, it means that the pump is intact. If there is no such pumping sound, it means that the fuel supply pump is faulty.
